    We operated a full design and custom manufacturing jewelry store in South Lake Tahoe beginning in 1970
    for 33 years. During our peak years we employed 3 fully qualified full time bench jewelers and diamond setters as well as a full time wax carver and jewelry designer.I was a jeweler as well
    I have been actively gold mining in the California
    Motherlode area since 1983. Some years ago now, a friend, located a “hot” gold bearing quartz discarded rock from the original tailings pile (1868) of the famous Brush Creek underground gold mine in Sierra County.This mine is in the Downieville Mining District. He had a top of the line Minelab metal detector to make this rich find. He cut and polished cabochons from this gold bearing quartz rock. I purchased a number of these gemstones to make gold jewelry from in our retail store. We still had a few of these rare loose gold bearing quartz cabochons left over when we retired.
