  • Condition: This is a single original GM cylinder head for a Big Block Chevy Engine. The casting number is 3964291. This head is the high performance version with rectangular intake ports and closed combustion chambers. This head was used by GM on late 1969-1970 L78 396/375HP, L71 427/435HP, and 427/425HP(450HP) L72 engines which were used on Yenko and COPO cars. This head was also original equipment on the 1970 LS6 454/450HP engines. This head was also used as a direct replacement for casting numbers 3856208, 3873858, 3904391, and 3919840. What a rare find!This head is in good rebuildable condition as shown. It was recently taken to a machine shop where it was cleaned and magnafluxed to check for cracks with none found. The ports are still stock size with with smoothing/deburring as shown. All threads are in good condition with no helicoils or thread inserts. There is one void on the deck surface from a blown head gasket as shown that will need to be welding during the rebuild process......

This head is the high performance version with rectangular intake ports and closed combustion chambers. This head was used by GM on late 1969-1970 L78 396/375HP, L71 427/435HP, and 427/425HP(450HP) L72 engines which were used on Yenko and COPO cars.     This head is in good rebuildable condition as shown.     . This area is not cracked, it just has a depression that was caused by the blown head gasket as shown. I priced the head with the required repair in mind. This is a very nice original 3964291 head.
