    Description

This scarce 1910s "Whip" litho octagonal embossed hinged 1 lb. tobacco tin, measuring 5 1/2" x 5 3/8" x 5 3/8", is in very good condition with no rust or dents and some minor age related paint scratches and chips.  Much of the original high gloss finish remains. The hinge is excellent working order.  There is nearly complete union stamp.  This striking, colorful green, red and white embossed tin features detailed images of a man in a traditional red riding jacket, holding a crop.  Some images show him patting his horse while others have him standing alone.  There is also an image of the man raising his crop with a lit pipe and crossed cigarettes next to him.  The tin on the lid edges and base is rolled, which is unusual.  The  "Whip" tobacco brand was advertised exclusively in fine magazines and was described as a self moisturizing humidor.
